We don’t usually do book reviews, but a recent fictionalized biography based largely on facts, about Frances Perkins, first female secretary of labor in 1916, inspired me. Who knew that a woman, during FDR’s tenure, came up with the plan for Social Security and helped make it a reality? Franklin Delano Roosevelt was known for other financial legislation implemented during his presidency that is foundational as well, such as FDIC insurance and the creation of the SEC. Check out the book on Goodreads and learn more about Frances Perkins and her achievements.
